Area airports receive grants for projects

The U.S. Department of Transportation on Friday awarded $8.1 million in grants for North Dakota airports, according to Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D., who is a member of the Senate Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Committee, and Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D.

Jamestown Regional Airport was awarded $1 million to rehabilitate one of the airport’s runways and taxiways, and to improve a runway safety area. The funds are in addition to the $1.2 million awarded earlier this week.

Barnes County Municipal Airport in Valley City received $800,000 to install a wildlife perimeter fence. Edgeley Municipal Airport Authority received $300,000 to install a fuel pump facility, rotating beacon, approach path indicators and replace a wind cone.
