A new Domino’s Pizza restaurant could be set to open its doors in Westbury, after a planning application was filed to transform the site of a former cleaning products business.
On April 25, a planning application was filed for a change of use of the premises at Simpsons cleaning products supplier, on Trowbridge Road, in Westbury.
The building is currently occupied by Simpsons and has been since 2008. However, now an application has been filed to change the use of the building to a ‘hot food takeaway’ premises.
The company who made the filing, Pegasus Group, wrote: “Change of Use of the Ground Floor from a retail/light industrial premises (Class E) to a Hot Food Takeaway (sui generis), installation of extraction and ventilation equipment and external alterations.”

A covering letter included in the application reveals that Pegasus is making the application for Domino’s Pizza.
The application reads: “Pegasus Group have been instructed on behalf of Domino’s Pizza UK & Ireland Ltd (the ‘Applicant’) to prepare an application for the following development at Simpson’s, Trowbridge Road."
The design and access statement proposes the ‘hot food takeaway’ to operate between 11am and 11pm daily.
The statement then states the business would generate around 25 ‘employment opportunities’.
According to a design and access statement included in the application: “The site currently incorporates two larger roller shutter doors, a garage door and a small shopfront which acts as the entrance to the retail premises."
A number of other application forms have been filed that would see the building transformed in line with the application, which proposes a number of other changes to the building including a new roof and blocking up windows at the back of the building.
The site lies some distance from other retail and hospitality spots, with the closest takeaway being New China Cottage, which lies around 250m from the site.
The nearest retail centre is Westbury town centre, which also lies around 250m from the site.
