Kent movie buffs are in for a treat this year as an outdoor cinema screen will be returning to Canterbury very soon. Following its successful debut last year, Curzon is once again hosting an open air screen throughout spring and summer, with the first showings taking place ahead of the bank holiday weekend.
Located directly outside the large cinema at the Riverside development on the corner of Kingsmeade Road and Sturry Road, the first outdoor screenings will be held on Friday (May 23). These will then continue right through the summer until the start of September, with hit movies from throughout the history of cinema due to be shown.
There will be screenings of newer favourites, such as Wicked, The Wild Robot and Top Gun Maverick, alongside timeless classics including 2001: A Space Odyssey, Grease, Rebel Without a Cause and Purple Rain. Alongside the extensive catalogue of films, the Open Air Screen will also be showing free-to-watch Women’s Euros matches.
Guests will be able to order food and drinks as they sink into beanbags and deck chairs to enjoy some al fresco entertainment. Tickets cost just £5 both for adults and children, and the kids get to enjoy some free popcorn with their ticket.
As the first screenings near, Curzon has confirmed the full line-up of films that will be shown at the Curzon Canterbury Riverside Open Air Screen this year, which can be found below. Tickets can be booked through the Curzon website here, where dates and screen times for each film can also be found.
