SUPERIOR — Douglas County and Superior city offices are closed on Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day. Regular office hours resume at 8 a.m. Tuesday, May 27.
Road construction began May 19 on County Highway C from Barnes Road to the Minnesota state line. There is not a timeline in place for completion of the project at this time.

The Douglas County Board is looking for a new member to fill a vacancy in the board’s 1st District. Douglas County Board Chairman Mark Liebaert is accepting applications from any resident of the district interested in appointment through April 2026.
The first district is located generally within the boundaries of Arrowhead Bridge Road to Baxter Avenue and Belknap Street to St. Louis Bay. There are two meetings on the calendar next week:
- Land and Development Committee meets at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, in Boardroom 201 of the Government Center in Superior.
- Public Safety Committee meets at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 29, in Boardroom 201 in the Government Center.
