Chrissy Metz Reveals That Competing on the ‘Masked Singer’ Was the ‘Hardest Thing I’ve Ever Done’
Chrissy Metz is no stranger to facing challenges, though she admitted that competing on The Masked Singer was the most difficult thing she has ever done.
While appearing on the Wednesday, June 4, episode of Busy Philipps‘ QVC+ late-night talk show, Busy This Week, Chrissy, 44, revealed that her stint on The Masked Singer was “the hardest thing I think I’ve ever done.”
She previously competed on season 11 as Poodle Moth and came in fourth place. The season 11 winner was Vanessa Hudgens, who competed as Goldfish.
“I’m not kidding,” Chrissy told Busy, 45, of the experience in a teaser clip from the interview shared with People. “They had asked me several years to do it and I was like, ‘There’s no way. I can barely breathe or walk and talk at the same time. Like, I can’t do this.'”
Once Chrissy finally agreed to go on the show, she recalled, “Then they’re like, ‘Oh, we have to give you the heaviest, hottest, biggest costume. I was like, ‘Great. Cool, cool, cool.'”
While Chrissy admitted that her time on The Masked Singer was extremely tough, she told Busy that it is her “dream” to compete on another reality show that is even more physically challenging.
“If I had my dream druthers and I was a very different person, it would be Survivor,” the This Is Us alum told the host when asked about what show she would like to go on next. “I’m obsessed with Survivor.”
Busy also got in on the fun when she shared her own reality TV fantasy. “I think that I would play The Amazing Race and I think I would win,” she revealed.
Chrissy said that the Dawson’s Creek alum would be great on The Amazing Race because she’s “charming,” “smart” and “clever.” Meanwhile, Busy said she would be at an advantage because she “can drive stick shift.”
“No, that’s the thing,” Chrissy responded. “I literally said, I was like, ‘I have to learn to drive a stick shift and maybe [become] conversational in a lot of languages would be helpful.'”

Chrissy opened up about her experience on The Masked Singer after she impressed fans with her 100-lb. weight loss.
“I have always enjoyed strength training. I’ve always enjoyed lifting weights, like I don’t want to run unless I’m being chased,” she told The Daily Mail about her weight loss journey on April 8. “[My trainer and I] have things in common where it’s not just like, ‘Why are you doing this?’ Like, I don’t want to be yelled at. I want to be lovingly supported in whatever it is that I’m doing.’”
She added that she made lifestyle changes due to fears about “aging, osteoporosis or arthritis.”
Chrissy did not reveal if she used weight loss medication to obtain her new figure, though she insisted she has nothing against the practice. “It’s something I feel like, it is so personal and sure, I think it’s important to, like, destigmatize anything,” she explained. “But I also think it’s people’s personal decision to decide what it is that they want to do for their body.”
“I think ultimately, at the end of the day, we all just want to feel good and feel good about ourselves,” Chrissy continued. “I think if you’re not hurting anybody, and you’re not hurting yourself, you should do what you feel is right for your body or your mind or whatever.”
