Miss Louisiana Olivia Grace George reflects on her year of service
MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Current Miss Louisiana, Olivia Grace George, reflected on her year of service ahead of Miss Louisiana 2025 beginning on June 19.
George said three words to describe her year of service are gratitude, excitement and crawfish.
“Enjoy every moment. Soak up everything that you get to do. It is truly a blessing to have served as Miss Louisiana for the last year, but also compete in the Miss America opportunity for the last eight years, and I’m really grateful for everything,” said George.
George was crowned as Miss Louisiana in June 2024, and has made her mark during her year of service.
George appeared at many schools and participated in many statewide events, but one experience she had stuck out in her mind.
“One of my favorite things that I did as Miss Louisiana was getting to go crawfishing at Crawfish Haven and Miss Rose’s Bed and Breakfast in Kaplan, Louisiana. It was just such a wonderful experience, and I’m really excited that I got to do that,” said George.
George’s community service initiative is “Education is Key: Knowledge Empowers Youth,” which helps students understand the importance of education.
George said it is essential for them to know how far their education can take them in life.
“I hope that if I could just change one student’s life, then I’ve done my job,” said George.
George said there is one piece of advice she would have given herself before she won the crown.
“I really wish I could go back and tell myself to believe in herself. It’s very easy to doubt your abilities and to getting your head into overthink every situation, and saying, ‘Am I wearing the right thing? Did I say the right thing? Am I good enough,’ but in all honesty, you are,” said George.
George said there is a lot she will miss about being Miss Louisiana.
“It’s been really wonderful to meet all kinds of people across our great state and to attend these once in a lifetime events, but what I may miss the most is all the really great food that I got to eat,” said George.
